ENGLISH Indie band The Maccabees are making their Belfast debut next Thursday (May 28) and lead singer Orlando is thrilled to be coming over to Ireland.
Hot on the heels of the release of their second album 'Wall of Arms' earlier this month, the band will be winging their way over to Ireland for a
date in Dublin, before they take to the stage of Spring & Airbrake in Belfast.

"We had a great time when we were in Dublin before and we are looking forward to coming to Belfast," said Orlando.

"I have been to Belfast before to visit a friend and went with a maniac driver along the coast to the Giants Causeway.

"I think it is the most beautiful place in Britain."
Critics have said the new album is darker than their debut but Orlando is not so sure about that.

"I don't particularly think its darker," he said.

"I hope it sounds more mature because we are older and more confident now; more accomplished.

"We tried to make it sound a little bit grander," continued Orlando.

"Lyrically it's about making amends and saying 'thank you' to people. Maybe it takes a couple of listens but I hope people see it as optimistic."

You can decide for yourself whether the new album is dakr or optimistic by catching the band at Spring & Airbrake next Thursday night.

Doors open at 8.30pm and tickets are on sale now from all usual Ticketmaster outlets.
