A LOCAL singer/songrwriter has had the honour of performing on stage with a top music artist.
Ruth Trimble
Ruth Trimble
Ruth Trimble, 28, from Drumbo was asked by Nashville artist Beth Nielsen Chapman
to take part in her concert at the Grand Opera House on Wednesday night.

Ruth, a pharmacist, was delighted with the opportunity and jumped at the chance when Beth suggested that she sing some harmonies with her on stage.

Beth is considered by many to be one of the pre-eminent singer/songwriters of her generation and has penned numerous hits and written songs for a wide selection of artists including Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris, Bette Midler, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt Neil Diamond, Trisha Yearwood, Roberta Flack, Maritna McBride, Michael McDonald, Olivia Newon-John, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and jazz legend Andy Bey.

Her songs have topped the charts, on television and in movie soundtracks.

Speaking before the performance Ruth said: "I met Beth when I was at a workshop in Nashville last year.

"Beth likes my songwriting style and she suggested that I accompany her and another local singer-songwriter Eilidh Patterson, for one evening.

"I am scared stiff as it has come out of the blue, but it is an amazing opportunity," she added.

Beth has also encouraged Ruth to take a career break to concentrate on her own music.

Ruth commented: "Beth said while I was still young I should try and focus on my songwriting and so I took her advice on board and successfully applied for a career break from work later in the year."
