STUART Shevill Jnr swept to victory in the UK Saloon Stock Car Masters Championship at Nutts Corner Raceway.

Heat win in the qualifiers went to Mark Dewar and Shevill.

Thomas McCrory Jnr runner up position in both heats secured himself pole for the championship. Shevill, Ian McLaughlin, Alan Ainslie Stuart McCammon and Matt Stirling were the next on the grid. At the greens the one two of Shevill and McCrory were soon blotted out as McLaughlin came to the fore and a spirited drive from McCammon moved up into second.

There was soon a race stoppage with a few car bits falling on the racing line. At the restart McLaughlin again headed Shevill, McCrory and Davy Haugh. Shevill soon piled on the pressure on the leader and it’s wasn’t long before he overhauled McLaughlin and away into an unassailable lead. McCrory stole second briefly before McLaughlin reclaimed the position.

The placing’s were spaced out over the top three and it was Haugh that lost his fourth place after a tangle with Anthony McIvor. Shevill the recently crowned Irish Open Champion and current National Point’s leader went on to win convincingly over McLaughlin and McCrory.

Andy Triggs, Glen Hepps, McIvor, Stirling and Colin Jones were the only other finishers.
