MICHAEL Laverty won’t rest on his laurels after kick-starting his British Superbike campaign at Snetterton at the weekend.

The Toomebridge rider has endured an indifferent series to date but a second place finish behind Tommy Hill in Sunday’s opening race, followed by a win in race two, catapulted him up to fourth in the championship.

“We had the pace right through testing, but had some bad luck in the early races, as well as some tyre issues.

“We identified the problems after Oulton, rectified them and it has paid dividends.

“We have got the front end feel back and we are getting the Honda back in the zone now.

“I managed to get away early in race two, but there are still some things we can improve on.”

“I made a small change after the first race and we were on the pace in the early laps,” he added.

“I just got my head down and went from there. I hoped I could pull a gap and I managed it, so I’m over the moon.

“We’re getting the Honda in the zone now and I’m looking forward to the next round at Knockhill. It’s like a home round for me and it should be a good circuit for the Honda.”

Laverty’s next assignment is this weekend when he joins the Honda TT Legends team for the Endurance World Championship round in Qatar as a replacement rider.
