“I said to the players there were two bits in the game that epitomised where we’re lacking,” said Ferguson.

“The first one was Ross Clarke’s goal where we stood off and stood off him around the edge of the box and he drilled it into the top corner.

“And when you really need something from the game, the second bit that sums us up at the minute is the long throw into the box that Paddy McNally gets a flick on and nobody reacts.

“If someone reacts to that, you get something out of the game because the ball has gone across the six yard box and we had three players standing at the back post.

“You need to want to score goals and as a striker, you need to have the desire to read that and anticipate that situation and we didn’t do that.

“We weren’t decisive enough to go and throw your body in front of Ross Clarke and stop that shot and not being able to get across the defenders and anticipate that opportunity.

“We didn’t create enough in the second half and we didn’t get into good areas.

I don’t think Ross Glendinning had a save to make and we never had a corner so I can’t really compalom about the result.

“We were huffing and puffing throughout the game but you don’t appreciate how difficult it was until you’re walking across the pitch - the wind was swirling all around the pitch.

“I spoke to the players befroe the game and told them to play in three parts.

“First and foremost, defend and not give anything away early on; secondly, try and get n front and give ourselves something to hold on to; and thirdly, try to see the game out.

“The first two bits went to plan, the third one didn’t, unfortunately.

“You can see that the desire is there but you need more than that and when you come and play on a good pitch like Windsor Park, you need to be able to pass and keep the ball and we didn’t do that,” added Ferguson.
