VIDEO: Ferguson fuming at ‘non-penalty’ incident

The Sky Blues boss was left fuming after referee Colin Burns over-ruled his assistant who had flagged for a Ballymena penalty while the Sky Blues led 1-0.

“I’ve asked for refs to come out and be accountable, not just to the assessor but to come out and explain himself on TV and then the two or three thousands fans that were here will get an account of what he thought happeend.

“If he comes out and gives and honest assessment or holds his hands up and says ‘I was wrong’ then people will say he’s honest enough to do that.

“The thing that disaapointed me most was that these four officials are supposed to work as a team, they are miked up to the assistants and fourth official.

“The referee’s assistant flagged straight away for a penalty and Colin Burns has decided not to even go and talk to him, to tell him why he wasn’t giving it.

“It hit the inside of Ryan Catney’s hand. The handball affected where the ball went because Matthew Tipton would have had the ball in front of him instead of having to stretch and shoot over. It then went from a bye-ball straight up the field and they scored.

“We would have the oppotunity to go 2-0 up and if we had done that, I honestly think the game would have been dead and buried.

“Our players have felt they have been dealt and real bad blow there and it has been on their mind. They are only human and we have a go at them saying you need to be concentrating at all times but they’re only human and they’ve switched off for a split second.

“But again the character the boys showed was amazing. They cost have easily gone into their shell but they drove forward, got to 2-2 and then even tried to win it,” added Ferguson.
