Eagerly awaited strongest man event comes to borough this week

THE best of the Northern Irish and Republic of Ireland Strongmen have been invited to Randalstown to battle it out for the prestige of going forward to represent at Giants Live British Open and Europe’s Strongest Man Final Brit Qualifier.

Both of these contests are being held in Craigstown Industrial estate on Saturday, March 3 in the new GameOn 3g venue and they lead to the Worlds Strongest Man event,

Last year James Fennelly of Kilkenny put in a magnificent first appearance on WSM. This contest will decide who will have the opportunity for 2013.

The show is run by the European Strength Association and is going to be a titanic battle between the best the local scene has to offer.

Competitors strengths will be tested in a number of events: Loading Race - 2 x 120kg Barrels 2 x 120kg sacks ( head to head); Viking Press - 140kg for reps; Deadlift hold - 250kg max time no straps - Head to head; Yoke - 390kg - 15m x 2 ; Car Dead-lift for reps - (Straps allowed - straight bar); Stones 100 - 110 - 120 - 140 - 160 - 180 (staggered wall).

The event has a number of sponsors and trade stands including, Core X Nutrition, Peak Physique Gym Ballymena and Unapproved Clothing Company.

The venue offers indoor facilities there will be refreshments and a viewing gallery so you can bring the whole family.
