OVER 60 young people from across the Antrim Borough Council Area enjoyed a one-day cross community football tournament at Antrim Forum on Saturday.
Organised by the Antrim PSNI’s Neighbourhood Policing Team in partnership with and sponsored by Antrim Borough Council, the initiative was arranged to develop and build community relations with young people from the Ballycraigy, Newpark, Parkhall, Steeple, Dublin Road, Springfarm, and Rathenraw areas.

“The initiative will give Antrim people aged 16 years and under the opportunity to brush-up on their football skills and have some fun before the end of the summer holidays,” explained Constable John Boyd from the Antrim Neighbourhood Policing Team.

He added: “The tournament will also provide an excellent opportunity for the young people to interact with their local police officers in a fun environment. I’d like to thank Antrim Borough Council and Antrim Forum for lending their support to this project.”

Janine Harvey, Sports Development Officer for Antrim Borough Council, commented: “This is a very exciting and innovative project. All those involved in the design of the programme must be commended for their input, which will hopefully encourage other groups to promote these type of Community Relations Projects in the future.”
