St Comgall's claw back win from St Joseph's

St Comgall's Antrim v St Joseph's Glenavy: This was second game of the week for the U16s of St Comgall's and the starting 15 of Antrim was minus a couple of their more prominent players.
The depleted ranks of Antrim was evident by their lacklustre performance in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

Glenavy got the opening score with a goal in the first minute.

It wasn't until the eighth minute that St Comgall’s registered a sc
ore with a point from Jordan Duffy but despite the many opportunities the Antrim men had they couldn't convert again until the 19th minute with a Kricky Donnelly point.

Glenavy added to their goal with a point in the 22nd minute.

St Comgall’s started to reduce Glenavy’s lead with a free-kick which was duly put over by Jordan Duffy.

Sam Walsh levelled the game for St Comgall’s with 27 minutes gone of the game.

St Comgall’s realised the weakness in the Glenavy defence and punished them for it when Jamie O'Hare drilled a goal into the back of the net. This is how it stood at the end of the first half with St Comgall’s going in three points up at 1-4 to Glenavy's 1-1.

Coming out after the interval both teams where fairly evenly matched in their attempts at scoring but St Comgall’s were getting the lions share of them over the bar.

James McCabe scored a vital point soon after the re-start and this was echoed by Man of the match Jordan Duffy soon after that.

Antrim's wing-forward Shane Og Gribbin got his only point of the game despite many efforts with 34 minutes gone.

St Joseph's added to their score with a point in the 39th minute but were finding it hard to penetrate the stubborn St Comgall’s defence.

St Comgall’s went on a bit of a scoring spree with further points from Jamie O'Hare, David Toner, Aidy Matthews and Aaron Megaw.

St Comgall’s half-forward Kricky Donnelly added to his first half point with a superb goal in the 39th minute mark.

St Comgall’s took a resounding lead with St Joseph's finding it hard to catch them.

With three quarters of the game played the score line was St Comgall’s 2-11 to St Joseph’s 1-2. Jordan Duffy capped his man of the match performance with a goal at the 48th minute point.

Antrim's full -forward Jamie O'Hare put over a fisted effort to score another point reinforcing to the Antrim coaches that this was his position to keep.

Glenavy got themselves a consolation goal in the 53rd minute but this was to be their last score of the game.

St Comgall’s half-forward Sam Walsh popped over another free-kick with five minutes to go and Jamie O'Hare added a point to his impressive personal score of 2-2 to bring the scoring to a conclusion.

At the end of the game St Comgall’s ran out clear winners with a score line of 4-13 to Glenavy's 2-2.
