St Comgall's Antrim v McQuillan's Ballycastle: The McQuillans made the long journey from Ballycastle down to the Ballymena Road in Antrim to take on St Comgall's on Friday night.
The game commenced with St Comgall’s laying siege to Ballycastle's goal area for most of the first half.

Referee Liam Devlin laid down the law to the players early on letting them know in no uncertain terms what he wanted to see and what he didn'
t want to see while he was in charge and to be fair to him he had a very good game with only a couple of cards shown.

St Comgall’s were the first to register a score with a fine point from half-forward Caolan McAuley in the sixth minute.

His cousin Peter McAuley was next to score for Antrim with a point of his own at the 10 minute mark.

Wing forward CJ McQuillan was doing sterling work down the right hand side for St Comgall’s carrying the ball down the wing and providing plenty of ball for forward Sean McGroggan, but the big full-forward was off his game and unlike him he didn't register a score the entire game.

Half-forward Sean McCavana got his first of two points in the 12th minute responding instinctively to pounce on a spilled ball by the Ballycastle defence to collect the ball and put it over the bar.

A minute later Antrim would score again with a well worked movement between Peter McAuley and Sean McCavana which McCavana duly put over to put St Comgalls in the lead by 0-4 to no score. Just before the half-time whistle Caolan McAuley would get his second score of the game with a lovely point.

The score line going into the break was St Comgall’s 0-5 to Ballycastle’s 0-0.

On the resumption of the game St Comgall’s continued were they left off with a goal from Caolan McAuley which was followed up by Peter McAuley who made an amazing run through the McQuillan’s defence to register another point.

Prolific scorer and Man of the Match Caolan McAuley got his last score of the game registering a tally of 1-3.

At this point of the game, realising that the game was won the Antrim management made some changes putting Caolan McAuley into the back line and giving some of St Comgall’s U12 team a chance to play with the bigger lads.

Colm Griffin, Joe McManus and Luke O’Loan were all introduced and showed that when they come into the team next year it wont phase them, all three put in tremendous performances in what was left of the game.

Special mention must be given to Joe McManus who looked like he has been in this U14 squad forever, what with his weaving runs and willingness to round markers and passing the ball into midfield.

Also Colm Griffin has to get a mention, the way this young man tackles giving his man no quarter and making him release or spill the ball. Colm is a very hard tackler of the ball but seldom fouls. CJ McQuillan capped a superb performance with point from a free-kick, just reward for a very hard working gaelic footballer. Nathan Langton rounded off a great game in midfield with a storming goal at the half hour mark.
