JORDAN Brown (pictured right) has been crowned Northern Ireland under-21 snooker champion for the third successive year.
He retained the title at the Minnesota club in Ballymena on Saturday, beating Newry's Declan Brennan decisively in the final.

For Brown, who has also held the all-Ireland under-21 title for the past two years, his hardest match was in the opening round against Chris Cunningham. Indeed, he was rather fortunate to defeat his Rafters opponent by three frames to two.

Thereafter, however, things were fairly straightforward for the Fountain cueman.

In round two he compiled a 69 break as he accounted for his club colleague, Jamie Martin, in three straight frames. Then, in the semi-finals, he had a run of 62 in his 3-1 win over Co. Armagh challenger, Michael Smyth.

Brown fired his highest break of the match - 85 - as he eased past Brennan by four frames to one in the decider.

Jordan, who is hoping to make a strong challenge at the Northern Ireland championship in the Green Baize club, Armagh, is disappointed that the world under-21 championship in France, in which he was to represent Northern Ireland, has been cancelled.
