Digital Champions project comes to the Crumlin area

Have you always wanted to use social media, make a Skype call, or do your shopping online but haven’t because you can’t use the internet?

Fear not because Crumlin is joining a national programme to create ‘Digital Champions’.

Digital Champions are people who know how to access the internet and who are willing to pass on their knowledge.

Through a new BT initiative being trialled by Antrim Borough Council, there are 12 spaces on a free accredited computer course taught by Supporting Communities NI, starting on March 28 for six weeks.

If you are able to commit to the six-week training course on Fridays from 10.30am to 12.30pm and you are from the Crumlin area, then let Antrim Council know.

All you have to do in return is once you have your new computer skills you give at least three hours back by helping someone else take their journey into the digital world.

Are you already online and want to help? That’s great news - if you have three hours to spare to walk through the basics of internet usage, organisers can find someone who can use your help.

If you are interested in joining the training programme, contact Fiona Kidd, Volunteer Facilitator with Antrim Borough Council before March 24, on 028 9446 3113 or email fiona.kidd@antrim.gov.uk

Please note places on the course are awarded on a first come, first serve basis and conditional base on six-week complete attendance.
