Councillors are expected to approve a recommendation to '˜economically appraise' plans which would see a brand new leisure centre built on a new site in Ballymena.

Mid & East Antrim Councillors meeting in the town tonight will be presented with a report which advises that ‘Council approve the next stage of the process in terms of completing the full economic appraisal for Options 5 and 6 which envisage a new build on a new site with a 25M pool or a 50M pool.’

The report further recommends that Council proceed with the exploration of the most advantageous site location for a new build within the wider St Patricks Barrack/Showgrounds Complex.
