Timely message for older people as clocks go back
AS THE clocks go back on Sunday, and the evenings start drawing in, Age NI Enterprises in partnership with the Ulster Farmer’s Union, is urging older people in Antrim and surrounding areas to take extra care at home this winter.
Ron Warwick, General Manager at Age NI Enterprises said: ‘Older people can sometimes feel uneasy during the darker months. It’s so important to ensure that our older friends and relatives feel well, warm and connected in winter.’
‘There are many things people can do to feel more confident at home. Simple steps such as making sure that broken light-bulbs are replaced can prevent a fall in the darker mornings and evenings. Likewise, making sure that you have a salt and sand mixture handy to put on paths in cold weather is a good preventative measure. And of course, regular contact with family, friends and neighbours is always important – there’s nothing better than a good cuppa in great company to brighten a dark, winter evening!’
