Obituary: Terry Hanna

FRIENDS and former colleagues form Parkhall College were saddened and shocked to learn of the death of Terry Hanna which occurred recently in Tunisia.

Terry joined the staff at Parkhall in 1974 as a member of the Art Department, a position he held until his retirement in June 2005.

As part of his work he took on the role of Photographer and as a result he is mainly responsible for the huge archive of photographs which portrays both the history of the School and the Youth Club.

He was always meticulous about the composition of his photographs as any former pupil and youth club member can testify.

Terry was also deeply involved in the School Youth Club. He held the position of Centre Leader in the Junior Youth Club for 15 years.

During his time with Parkhall, Terry helped organise a number trips for the pupils and youth club members. These included Ski Trips, Day Trips to Scotland, Residential Trips to Woodhall, Ballyhome, and Bushmills Centres, and Camping Trips to Fermanagh and France.

Terry was well liked and respected by everyone who knew him and he was extremely generous particularly with his time when organising events for young people.

He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him and the school community’s thoughts are with his brother Billy and the rest of the family circle at this time.
