Nine arrested over Newpark attack

NINE men have been arrested in connection with an incident in the Newpark area of Antrim last night.

Shortly after 8pm, up to 20 men arrived at a property in the Ashgrove area of the estate, armed with hammers and bats.

They smashed windows and a door at the house and entered the property.

The male resident ran from the house and did not receive any injuries in the incident.

A few hours later, nine men aged between 21 and 48 were arrested in connection with the incident. They are all currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Detectives are appealing for information and anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID in Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000.
