Neighbours rescue man from house fire

A MAN in his forties was rescued by neighbours following a house fire in Antrim on Sunday.

The man was dragged from his home at Queen’s Road shortly after 12.40pm by two neighbours who had been alerted by the sounding of a smoke alarm and investigated the property.

Fire Crews used oxygen therapy and burn gels to treat the unconscious casualty for burns and heavy smoke inhalation prior to the arrival of the paramedics.

He was then transported to hospital for further examination and treatment.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said two appliances from Antrim and one appliance from Ballymena Fire Station were involved in dealing with the fire in a living room of the property.
