MP welcomes briefing from Antrim PSNI
SOUTH Antrim DUP MP William McCrea has met with a senior police Inspector in Antrim to discuss a number of recent incidents in the local area.
Commenting on Thursday’s meeting, Mr McCrea said: “I had a profitable meeting with the Inspector at Antrim Station at which we discussed a number of issues relevant to the Antrim area which have been causing concern to the local community.
“Over the summer months, there have been a number of occasions where tension within the community has been evident, and it is important that we continue to do all that we can to defuse such occurrences.
“The most recent incident in Randalstown when two people were injured was thoroughly discussed as was the charging of three Jordanian Paralympians.
“The arrest and charges brought against the Jordanians certainly made world news but is imperative that we protect and support everyone who was affected by this incident.
“I believe that it is vital that the Antrim community has a strong relationship with their local policing team and that information is forthcoming to ensure the safety of the whole community.
“As we begin to face the autumn and winter months it is essential that we support our senior citizens especially those living in the rural areas where they are more open to feelings of isolation and vulnerability.”
