LAST WEEKEND local Optometrist Gary Toal of Taylor & Toal Opticians completed the BUPA Great North Run, the world’s largest half marathon, raising money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

“This was my first half marathon having only ran up to 10 miles in training, so I was a little anxious at the start line. The crowds and fellow runners made it such an unforgettable experience and really pushed you on. I hope to do it again at some time in the future, perhaps I will now look at completing a full marathon, once my legs recover!”

Gary would like to thank the generous people of Antrim who have helped him raise over £1000 to date for his chosen charity RNIB.

Further donations can be made by calling in to Taylor & Toal Opticians, 45 High Street, Antrim, or by visiting my justgiving page - http://www.justgiving.com/Gary-Toal.

Laura Kirkwood, RNIB’s Events Manager said: “We know a lot of hard training goes into completing the Great North Run. We are delighted that Gary has decided to run for RNIB and support our vital work.”
