Life saver Ray Milligan. INAT 20-325JC
AN Antrim man who came to the aid of a gentleman who had started to choke has said he is glad he was able to help.
Raymond Milligan came to the aid of 65-year-old William Wallace and performed the Heimlich Maneuver on him.
Mr Wallace has credited Raymond with saving his life.
As the Antrim Times reported last week, Mr Wallace had been returning from a shopping trip in Ballymena with his daughter Louise and grandson Jake and as a treat had gone to McDonald’s.
They decided to wait until the returned home before they ate their take-away but on their way back, Louise made a quick stop at Tesco.
William has little recollection of what exactly happened other than Louise parking that car and then later coming-to to find himself sitting on the ground being attended to.
“Dad decided he was going to eat his burger and as we were coming into the carpark at Tesco, he started coughing,” Louise said.
She added: “I didn’t realise just how serious it was at first but then he started to turn blue and then purple and went completely still.”
As Louise screamed for help, a passing motorist stopped and came over to help.
The passing motorist was Raymond. who was driving into the carpark when his fiance Roberta heard Louise’s shouts for help.
