Greystone residents organise family funday
GREYSTONE Residents’ Association is pleased to announce that their Family Fun Day, postponed in August because of building work at Greystone Community Centre, will now be held on Saturday, September 29 from 1pm to 4 pm.
This is to mark the launch of their inclusion in the NI Housing Executive, Shared Communities Programme.
Greystone Estate was selected earlier this year to be included in this Programme.
It is a three-year programme aimed at supporting and encouraging shared communities across Northern Ireland.
The central purpose is: To develop ‘Shared Housing Communities’ where people choose to live with others regardless of their religion or race, in a neighbourhood that is safe and welcoming to all, and threatening to no-one.
Greystone was selected in recognition of the work that has already been carried out and the genuine commitment of the community to live together with respect and understanding.
In developing and delivering this programme, it was important to get the views of local residents and to achieve this Greystone Residents’ Association carried out a survey as part of an Action Learning Project within the Community Leadership Programme, which is funded by the International Fund for Ireland and delivered by NICVA.
The aim of this survey was to give residents the opportunity to comment on the area and how they felt it could be improved.
The survey was delivered to all residents in the estate with a 20% return rate.
The results have now been analysed and the key findings included in a leaflet with the kind help of the NIHE.
This will be delivered shortly before the Fun Day to all Greystone residents.
Everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy the activities, which include Inflatables, Magic show, Barbecue, Balloon Modelling and much more and help us to mark the occasion.
