Free electric blanket testing

THE NIGHTS are drawing in, the air is getting cooler and who isn’t looking forward to putting their electric blanket to good use again.

Before you do, make sure you find out how safe they are at Antrim Borough Council’s electric blanket testing days. You may even get a new blanket free of charge!

Alison Briggs, Health and Well-being Manager said: “Funding from the Public Health Agency allows us to hold electric blanket testing events every year. Last year, 108 blankets were tested with 76% failing to pass which clearly shows the importance of testing blankets for faults. So, we would urge you to make an appointment and come along on any of the two dates below. It may save your life.”

Alison added: “A specially qualified electrician will check your blanket and if it fails the safety test, you will be given a replacement to take home.

“We will safely dispose of the dangerous blanket. Both the test and the blanket are free of charge. The Customer Services and Health and Well-being teams will also be available to have a chat with you, over a cup of tea or coffee, on safety advice and the range of services the Council can provide.

Appointments are limited so act quickly and book by T. 028 9466 3113.
