Countryfile captures the beauty of the Castle Gardens

ANTRIM’S Castle Gardens played host to BBC Countryfile on Friday when presenters Matt Baker and Ellie Harrison arrived to film for their programme.

Excited local schoolchildren, who were in the Gardens to receive their commemorative Jubilee coins from the Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Paul Michael, had the opportunity to meet Ellie and Matt.

The Mayor said: ‘The Countryfile team were in the Province to film inserts for their Jubilee programme.

“They had heard about the £6m restoration project in the Gardens and were keen to film the planting of the Jubilee tree.

“To have Antrim Castle Gardens featured in a television programme that has an audience of six million will be amazing exposure and definitely put the Gardens on the map.”

The Mayor continued: “What was already a very special event became extra special when Matt and Ellie took time to speak to everyone, sign autographs for the children and pose for photographs.

“It was the icing on the cake. We had some very happy children.”
