Council to host multi-cultural event

ANTRIM will be a hive of all things multi-cultural this Saturday, March 23 between 2pm and 5pm when an exciting event takes place at Antrim Castle Gardens & Clotworthy House.

Showcasing the different customs and traditions that are alive in our society today, the event will include an exploration of culture through the arts of music, dancing, painting and calligraphy, an opportunity to view traditional costumes and sample traditional food, see musical workshops featuring instruments from around the world and listen to some storytelling.

Valerie Crozier-Nicholl, Good Relations Officer with Antrim Borough Council, said: “This multi-cultural event will promote better understanding and positive integration of Antrim’s diverse range of communities.

“It offers the opportunity to explore and experience images, music and other cultural influences and to ask questions you’ve always wanted to ask in a safe and friendly environment. “It’s only when we begin to ask and understand that we have a chance of cohesion and integration for a shared and better future for all. I would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the activities on offer.”

This event has received financial support from OFMDFM through Antrim Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme.
