THE Randalstown Fundraising Group of Cancer Research UK are calling everyone to join them in this year’s 3km sponsored walk from the OC Church Hall through the grounds of Shane’s Castle in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The annual event will take place at 10.30am on Saturday, September 29, with well earned refreshments available following the walk.

Chair of the group, Kenneth Johnston said: “We had a great turnout last year with new people taking part in the walk. We’d love to see everyone again and welcome all new walkers.

Sarah Davis, Area Volunteer Manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “Cancer Research UK spent more than £2 million last year in Northern Ireland on some of the UK’s leading scientific and clinical research.

“For example, Belfast is home to one of our Cancer Research UK Centres.

“The Belfast Centre brings together scientists, doctors and nurses from across the city. Researchers at the Belfast Centre are building on their existing strengths in research – turning discoveries made in the lab into new, more effective ways to detect, monitor and treat people with cancer.

“To find out more about the sponsored walk and obtain sponsor forms, please contact Kenneth Johnston on 07756 152142 and to find out more about Cancer Research UK and how you can help please visit www.cancerresearchuk.org.uk or call 08701 60 20 40.”
