Bird boxes to be put up in Neillsbrook

editorial image

NEILLSBROOK Community Development Group has launched a project to introduce bird boxes into the local area.

More than 50 bird boxes are set to be put up throughout the estate before next spring. The will mainly be located along the main river walk, the plantation, as well as private gardens.

The project is being led by the group’s Vice-Chairman Joshua McQuillan, himself a keen ornithologist.

To encourage a range of birds, the nestboxes will be one of two types - enclosed boxes, favoured by tits and sparrows, and half open boxes favoured by wrens, robins and blackbirds.
