Appeal after horses found running loose

POLICE in Antrim are seeking the owners of two horses found running loose on the evening of Sunday, September 16.

The horses were spotted by members of the public in the areas of Ballymena Road, Junction One Roundabout, Stiles Way, and Steeple Road Crossroads at around 5.15pm.

Police officers were assisted by passing members of the public and two staff members from Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary in moving the horses to a nearby field out of harms way.

Both animals were in a distressed state and it’s believed one of them, a small filly, had been struck by a vehicle which failed to stop near to Junction One roundabout requiring treatment.

The horses are both currently being cared for by Crosskennan.

The horses are described as one Bay Mare around three years old, approximately 13.2 hands tall. The second is a Piebald Filly, under two years old, approximately 13 hands tall.

Police would urge the owners of these horses to get in touch with them on 0845 600 8000.
