Antrim groups enjoy big grants windfall from awards for all

THREE groups in the Antrim area are today sharing in a grants windfall from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.

The small grants programme is awarding grants totalling nearly £18,000 to the local groups as part of a grants roll-out of £658,459 to 84 groups across Northern Ireland.

Awards for All offers community, voluntary and statutory groups the chance to apply for small grants of between £500 and £10,000 that will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of people most in need.

Crumlin Controlled Integrated Primary School, located on the Mill Road in Crumlin, has been awarded a grant of £10,000 to create a fitness trail at the school, giving the pupils an opportunity to enjoy exercise outdoors in a fun environment.

Scouting Ireland’s 23rd Antrim Scout Unit has been awarded a £7,752 grant to buy new camping equipment including training equipment and tents. This will mean they can take the young people away on trips and continue to help improve their opportunities and development.

Womens Aid Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey, which provides a support services for women and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, is also receiving £6,336 to buy provide equipment and storage for their safe haven garden.

Frank Hewitt, Big Lottery Fund NI Chair, said: “The Big Lottery Fund’s NI Awards for All programme funds health, education, environment and community projects that help people bring about positive change in their lives, improve health and well-being, develop skills and create safer communities.

“The application process is simple and accessible and shall remain so, making it easy for applicants to successfully apply for small pots of funding that can have such a big impact on local communities and lives.”
