£245,000 resurfacing works to begin in Antrim
REGIONAL Development Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £245,000 resurfacing scheme on the A6 Belfast Road in Antrim.
The work is due to begin on February 4, between Ballycraigy Road and Islandreagh Drive.
Mr Kennedy said: “The resurfacing works will increase the structural strength and improve the running surface of the road.”
To help minimise any inconvenience to local businesses and the travelling public the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.
The lane closures will commence on February 4 and continue until March 24. During lane closures two-way traffic flow will be maintained.
A full closure of the Belfast Road will be in place between March 9-10 and March 19-24 to allow final surfacing and all traffic will be diverted using the advertised diversion.
The scheme is expected to be completed on March 24.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
