£215,000 resurfacing works scheme for Antrim

TRANSPORT Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £215,000 resurfacing scheme on the A57 Antrim Road.

The work is due to begin on January 28 between Dungonnell Road and Airport Road.

The Minister said: “The resurfacing works will increase the structural strength and improve the running surface of the road.”

To help minimise any inconvenience to local businesses including the Belfast International Airport traffic and the travelling public the majority of this work is programmed to be completed using lane closures.

Lane closures will commence on January 28 and continue until February 23. During lane closures two-way traffic flow will be maintained.

A full closure of the Antrim Road will be in place between February 11-14 and February 18-22 to allow final surfacing and all traffic will be diverted using the advertised diversion.

The scheme is expected to be completed on February 23.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
