Caddy and District Community Group hosted a very successful historical evening on the subject of World War I.
A large crowd turned out for the event in Caddy Hall, with historian David Gourlay presenting a slideshow and talk focusing on the Gallipoli and Dardanelles campaigns.
Those gathered were told of a local man, William Jamison, originally from the Ballealy townland area, who emigrated to New Zealand, and who was killed at Gallipoli on August 8, 1915, serving with the Wellington Infantry Battallion.
Caddy and District Community Group would like to thank Mr Gourlay for presenting such an informative and interesting talk. and slideshow.
Last week’ event is just one in a series of planned event being held locally as part of this year’s WWI commemorations.
