Antrim Borough Council has won yet another top UK award for excellence in parks and public spaces.

The council’s Antrim Castle Gardens has received the prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award for the second year running because of its commitment to maintenance of the grounds, enhancing the sustainability of the site and conservation efforts.

The Green Flag Award supported by Heyn Waste Solutions is a prestigious award, setting an international benchmark standard for parks and green spaces.

The Green Flag recognition is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Brian Graham, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have received this highly prestigious award for the second year running.

“It is truly well deserved and is recognition of the high-quality of the facilities in the Gardens and those who put so much into enhancing and preserving this important part of our heritage.”

Cllr. Graham added: “In Antrim Castle Gardens, we have one of the most unique and historically intact gardens throughout the UK and Ireland.

“A Green Flag award is an excellent badge of quality that will help to raise the profile of the Gardens and attract many new visitors.”
