Think pink as Giro sets to race into town

There is just a matter of days to go until over 200 top cyclists race through the Borough of Antrim for the world famous ‘Giro d’Italia presenting a once in a lifetime experience for residents and visitors to watch the race, as it happens, from the roadside.

On Saturday, May 10, the race will pass through Templepatrick, on to Dunadry via the Belfast Road and will continue along Fountain Hill, Stiles Way and onto the Ballymena Road.

Mayor of Antrim, Councillor Roderick Swann, said: “The fast paced Giro with its 200 strong peloton passes through the Town on Saturday morning with great viewing locations and lots more entertainment in the town centre after.”

For those living near Templepatrick, the park and ride facility will be available for parking.

In Dunadry, Ellie Mays is holding a community Family Fun Day which will provide a range of facilities and entertainment.

As the race enters from Belfast Road, Antrim, the Fountain Hill roundabout will be a good viewing location.

Stiles Community Centre will have family entertainment as well as parking facilities.

Stiles Way Cineplex site has parking facilities and an opportunity to view the race and Antrim Civic Centre will be open from 8am allowing you time to park, enjoy some family entertainment and pink al fresco dining.

Junction One will also be available for parking and viewing and will be holding some mall entertainment.

After the race passes, why not come to Antrim town centre from 12 noon to 3pm where there will be lots of fun activities including face painting, balloon modelling, stilt walkers, rickshaws and dance workshops.
