A control condition has been placed on a local dog owner’s dog licence.
Antrim Council agreed to impose conditions ensuring the dog should be confined in a building, yard or enclosure when not under the keeper’s control, following an alleged incident earlier this year.
In a report presented to council’s Environment & Borough Services committee, it outlined an incident of sheep worrying in the Kells area of Antrim.
Investigations revealed a dog matching the desciption given by the livestock owner resided in the vicinty and its owner could not confirm if the dog had been secured at the time.
While there was an enclosure for the dog, the owner told council officers that he intended to construct a new larger enclosure.
Councillors agreed tha the control conditions should be placed on the dog’s licence.
