A scheme aimed at reducing bike theft and identifying owners of lost or stolen bikes in the Antrim area, was launched recently at Roundtower Primary School by D District’s Crime Prevention Officer (CPO), Michael Greene.

The scheme will be introduced at other venues across Antrim where, as a deterrent to bike thieves and a mechanism for identifying found bikes, people can bring their bikes along to be individually and uniquely marked.

Speaking of the event, Michael said: “It is important that bike owners take steps to make it difficult for would-be bike thieves; we will be offering bike marking kits, including locks and safety equipment to anyone attending these events.

“I am keen to hear from youth clubs, cycling clubs or other schools in the area who would be interested in the scheme to e-mail me at Michael.green2@psni.pnn.police.uk.
