Members of The Tidy Randalstown Environmental group were delighted when Mayor Roderick Swann took to the streets with them armed with his litter picker and wearing his high visibility jacket on their annual clean up day.
Tidy Randalstown has gone from strength to strength in recent years in demonstrating what can be achieved when the community comes together to work on the ground.
It has also been adopted as the official partner organisation of Randalstown Chamber of Trade and stands to benefit from the ongoing generous support of traders which already provides the financial backing for annual local events.
Antrim Borough Council has also lent it’s very welcome support by way of financial aid and equipment supply for TR events.
Eileen Warwick, Chairperson of Tidy Randalstown and Oliver Kearney, current Chair of The Chamber of Trade said there are big plans to apply the new partnership approach for the benefit of the town.
She said: “Neglected areas of the town are being assessed and Michael McKay, Project Officer for the organisations, is on the starting blocks so changes can be expected very soon. There will also be a war on litter.
“If you would like to be involved in maintaining a litter free area where you live do contact any of the trio.
“Teams have been designated in certain localities and the benefits are already becoming apparent. Randalstown looks set to bloom this Summer.”
