Antrim Council is set to provide over £4,000 towards the annual Shane’s Castle Vintage Steam Rally.
Councillors at last week’s Environment and Borough Services Committee agreed to provide £1,853 to the group towards the cost of waste recovery and disposal at the event, which will this year take place on May 4 and 5.
The council’s Development and Leisure Committee has already agreed to provide £3,000 towards the costs of accomodating a range of crafters and artisans to work the event.
Proposing councillors agree to the latest request, Alderman Mervyn Rea said the Shane’s Castle event has become the “number one event of its kind”.
His proposal was seconded by Councillor Alan Lawther and agreed to by the committee
