Randalstown ramblers could be getting more even more active after the council agreed to approve the development of a £25,000 Outdoor Gym Trail at Neillsbrook Community Centre.
Members of the Development and Leisure Committee agreed to contribute up to £9,000 and maintenance costs for the Trail.
The rest of the funding will be provided by the Public Health Agency.
The fitness equipment aimed at adults includes air walkers, rowing machines and other equipment and is proving popular at the Antrim Forum and Lough Shore Park.
At last Thursday’s committee meeting, long term supporter of the outdoor gyms, Councillor Neil Kelly welcomed the decision.
Speaking about the current gyms in Antrim he said: “There’s always people on them and they’re used by a variety of people. I think Randalstown will benefit.”
