Local mums raise £6k for sick and premature babies

Local fitness group Buggy Babies have raised in excess of £6,000 from their participation in the one day ladies only challenge event ‘Operation Lipstick’ in aid of TinyLife, the premature and sick baby charity.

Thirty ‘yummy mummies’ from Buggy Babies joined 250 participants as they took on mental, physical and practical challenges in the glorious setting of Castlewellan Forest Park.

Buggy Babies Team 5 succeeded in achieving first place winning of ‘Operation Lipstick 2014’. Each team member received a ‘Mac in a Sac’ sponsored by Target Dry, bottle of bubbly and outdoor recreation vouchers sponsored by Life Adventure.

TinyLife, Regional Fundraising Manager, Valerie Cromie said ‘Congratulations to Buggy Babies on winning the event and a huge thanks organiser Michelle Raphael and to everyone who supported Buggy Babies fundraising efforts in the Antrim area.

“Every day in Northern Ireland 7 babies are born too soon, some will arrive as early as 24 weeks and weigh as little as 1lb.

“The £6,000 raised by the ladies will allow TinyLife to provide 240 hours of vital family & hospital support in the NHSCT area.”

Michelle Raphael from Buggy babies said: “We were thrilled to have the winning team for ‘Operation Lipstick’.

“Sincere thanks to all of our ladies who pulled out all the stops to raise over £6k for TinyLife, a cause close to the hearts of Buggy Babies mums.

“Buggy Babies donation brings the total for Operation Lipstick to an enormous £35,000.”

Buggy Babies would be delighted to welcome new mums along to their outdoor fitness classes, it’s a great way to meet new friends and have fun keeping fit.

They have classes in Ballyclare on a Monday at 10am and also in Antrim on a Tuesday and Friday at 10 am. Anyone interested in getting involved can contact me on 07879 011445.’
