Home-Start Antrim is thanksing all of the businesses, organisations, churches, Cash for Kids, council employees and Mayors of Antrim, Magherafelt and Newtownabbey for their support in recent months.

The local organisation has also thanked members of the public, who with their generous donations have enabled Home-Start to bring some added cheer to families within the three borough council areas.

“These stark economic times are very hard for many families with young children today but through our Christmas Appeal, which has been running for 20 plus years, we were able to exceed our targets in food hampers, toys and supermarket vouchers,” Margaret Thompson, Scheme Manager, said.

She added: “And through the generosity of the community and the hard work of the Home-Start volunteers and trustees all gifts were delivered in good time for Christmas.”

Home-Start also had an annual street collection on November 29 when many of the organisation’s volunteers, trustees and sixth form pupils from St Louis Grammar School, Ballymena, stood in the cold for quite a few hours, raising £942.

Home-Start Antrim is a voluntary organisation supporting families with at least one child under five, and is part of the wider organisation Home-Start UK/NI.

Home-Start has been working in the Borough of Antrim for 24 years and in the rural areas of Ballyronan, Castledawson and Ballyclare, bringing support, friendship and guidance to young parents.

If you feel you would like to know more about Home-Start or are interested in volunteering, please contact the Home-Start Antrim office 02894428090 for more information about our courses of preparation for volunteers.
