Antrim Grammar School has successfully raised £2033.48 as part in the Praxis Care Sponsored Read It!
Pupils at the school read a number of books whilst trying to help raise funds for Praxis Care through sponsorship from family and friends.
Schools in Northern Ireland were asked to take part in the Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! in line with Children’s Book Week and World Mental Health Day.
So far Praxis Care’s Sponsored Read It! has been a fantastic success and has been supported by 24 schools and 3, 500 children who raised over £14,000 to date.
Mrs Berry, Teacher at Antrim Grammar School, said: “The pupils and staff at Antrim Grammar School are delighted to have raised an exceptional amount of money for Praxis Care as part of the Praxis Care Sponsored Read It.”
Geraldine Andrews, Fundraising Officer with Praxis Care, added: “We are delighted to have Antrim Grammar involved in the Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! Campaign for the second year running.
“The Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! hasn’t only encouraged the pupils to read books but has raised vital funds for Praxis Care within the local area.”
The Praxis Care Sponsored Read It! brought benefits to pupils and schools as it encouraged pupils to read books, increased literacy skills while raising awareness of the importance of looking after your mental health.
Praxis Care is the largest Northern Ireland charity providing care for nearly 1,500 vulnerable children and adults affected by mental ill-health, learning disability, acquired brain injury and dementia.
The charity works across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England and the Isle of Man.
