Local man Gerry Lynch has been awarded the ACE Award for Individual Volunteering (Contribution), an award which recognises an individual volunteer who has made a significant difference by helping their community.

Gerry is described as a Randalstown man with a big voice but an even bigger heart.

He is a familiar sight going around Randalstown with a car and trailer collecting and delivering furniture and other goods for a local charitable organisation.

Families from both sides of the community know that he is only a phone call away. His zest for life is infectious and his response to requests immediate and enthusiastic.

The total number of organisations depending on Gerry’s generosity is not fully known but includes the Maine Valley Golfing Society and the Randalstown and District Darts League.

Many individuals have also had cause to be grateful for the private and discreet little envelope which finds its way to them during a crisis.
