Jocelyn Brown receives her award from Mayor of Antrim, Roderick Swann, and Paul Kendrick, Chairman of RICS.

Ballycraigy Primary School teacher Jocelyn Brown has been awarded the Antrim Community Excellence award for Environment.

The award is to recognise those who help protect our natural or built environment.

Her nomination states: “She is a high thinker when it comes to helping the environment and is always thinking of new ways to pass her ideas on to her schoolchildren.

“At all times is promoting the zero waste to landfill idea which the school is heading towards and she is always teaching the children and parents about the reduce/reuse/recycle policy which the pupils really enjoy.

“She is throughly a pleasure to work with, has a kind hearted nature and always thinks of the children she teaches and always puts them and their community first.

“I believe she is an inspiration to all of her colleagues and children in Ballycraigy Primary School.”
