A TERRITORIAL Army medic from Antrim has been honoured at a ceremony at Hillsborough Castle, carrying off one of the highest honours that can be accorded to reservists and cadets.
Lord O’Neill, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Antrim, presented Major Jenny Jackson with a Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate of Merit in recognition of outstanding service, an honour second in prestige only to recognition by the Queen.
Major Jackson was congratulated for having devoted 27 years to the Territorial Army during which time she has been deployed to Iraq as part of the accident & emergency service of a major field hospital. She will shortly deploy to Afghanistan to undertake similar duties.
Major Jackson also finds time to undertake extensive voluntary work which includes working with adults at Muckamore Abbey and teaching first aid to the Women’s Institute, Girl Guides, Scouts and Brownies.
Information about part-time and full-time career opportunities with the army can also be found on www.armyjobsni.mod.uk or call 028 9042 5717.
