Antrim Walk to take in Shane's Castle estate

SHANE'S Castle Estate will be the new venue for the 2008 Antrim Walk, taking place on Saturday, September 20.
In previous years, walkers have enjoyed the Mill Race Trail along the Six Mile Water River.
"Unfortunately, this area was damaged in the recent floods, so Shane O'Neill very kindly stepped in and offered the use of Shane's Castle Estate as an alternative venue for the walk," Ashley Whittley, Active Lifestyles Officer with Antrim Borough Council, explained.
She added: "The 10 mile and six mile walks will begin at 10.30am from Antrim Stadium as originally planned, make their way through Antrim Castle Gardens to Shane's Castle Estate, then on to Randalstown Forest before looping back to Clotworthy Arts Centre for a barbecue and children's entertainment. The Children's Nature Trail will take place in the Castle Gardens as originally planned.
"Shane's Castle Estate will make a wonderful venue for this year's Antrim Walk. The scenery is beautiful and there is so much history in the Estate that walkers will be in for a real treat. So get active, get walking and help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support."
Cynthia said: "I'm delighted that Shane's Castle have agreed to let us use their ground and having walked the route, it is a wonderful opportunity for people to see the scenery of the estate."
There is still an opportunity for people to register in advance or you can wait until the morning of the walk.
Collect your registration form from Antrim Information Centre, Antrim Forum, Antrim Civic Centre, download from www.antrim.gov.uk/antrimwalk or contact Ashley Whittley on 9446 3113.
