Arena Health & Fitness Club has recently changed ownership and management.  The club is bigger and better than ever before with extended studios, upgraded gym equipment and full refurbishment throughout.  The price is still the best value for money in Belfast as it includes gym, 25m pool, classes and you can even bring your kids at the weekends.  They have new swimming lessons starting this month with Cossum Swim Schools, which offer proper qualifications to their pupils.  Anyone who thinks otherwise should drop in and see for themselves!  I highly recommend!

true it is older to some of the newer gyms around but the staff are second to none and have always helped out when asked , the fact that i can bring my children in at the weekends for a swim is a big bonus, and as for comments about the lifegard above my kids think hes the best thing since sliced bread !

avoid this club, dirty, small and over priced.
Rude staff and bad club
I was in a contract and paid it in full and since then they have still been trying to take money for it and say i owe them hundreds!, not to be trusted!!

Arena - avoid like the plague, this gym has low standards of cleanliness it is a very small over heated gym (the sun beams thru the window and it feels like a sauna) the steam room is always dirty and filled with recycled toilet paper which gives off a horrible smell.

Some of the staff are rude and very lazy...for example the "lifeguard" (when kids are in the gym) is usually reading a magazine and eating crisps drinking juice lying on a sun lounger at the side of the pool.

There is a significant difference in the commitment of weekday/weekend staff.

Children over run the changing rooms saturday and sunday and leave water balloons etc all over the floor (as well as empty food packets)

There are a good supply of lockers but u can attend at 6:30 am and there are only a couple free as members lock stuff in there and leave them making it difficult to find a locker.

The showers are dirty the majority of the time u go in there ie hair stuck in the drain, other peoples old razors, i no they cant be responsible for other people bad habits but they can be for the cleanliness.

There are also a very limited number of classes on compared to other gyms such as the PEC.

Sorry for the rant but i dont want people to commit to a year and then not liking it. As it is quite outdated and does not offer the nice facilities of other local gyms at a similar or cheaper price.

Arena is a friendly gym without the posturing and posing of other gyms in Belfast. It is good value for money with a well equipped gym, studio, plenty of classes and a proper pool for swimming. The staff are friendly the facilities are well maintained.
