Packed new season at the Waterfront

THE Waterfront Hall's new season is packed with famous names, the best of stand-up comedy and spring and summer festival highlights!
A host of famous names are Waterfront bound! Coming soon are: a reformed Ultravox (May 3); Rhydian (May 27); Antony and the Johnsons (June 1) and Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe (June 14) while the legendary Neil Sedaka visits on June 18, Morrissey (May 2) a
nd James Morrison ( May 29) are already sold out.

The Waterfront always showcases home-grown talent and this season is no exception. Brian Kennedy returns on April 24, Irish Traditional Super Group (May 4) sees many of Ireland`s finest traditional musicians play together in one show, Liam Reilly and Bagatelle play the Studio on April 18 & 19 and Paschal Brennan performs as The Voice of Joe Dolan on June 12.

Music fans will also enjoy The Magic of Motown - 50th Anniversary Tour (April 25); Talon - The Best of Eagles (April 30) and One Night With Elvis, starring Lee `Memphis King` (May 9).

Country fans are well catered for with Pam Tillis (April 13) and Collin Raye on May 23.

Ulster Orchestra concerts to watch out for include: Alfie Boe (May 15), Symphonic Dances (May 22).

Comedy at the Waterfront continues to go from strength to strength: Magners Waterfront Comedy Club brings the top stars on the current scene and the finest emerging talent to Belfast, including: Rob Brydon (April 27); Ross Noble (May 6 & 7) and Lucy Porter (May9). Comedy legend, Jackie Mason, takes centre stage on May 31.

Festivals play a big part in the new season at Belfast Waterfront. Festival in a Weekend (May 22-24 ) - one of the largest celebrations of children's arts under one roof - is a highlight of Belfast Children`s Festival. It includes Urban Arts A-kid-emy, which gives eight to 14 year-olds a chance to learn new and exciting skills.

Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival gems at the Waterfront include renowned actor, writer and director Steven Berkoff (May 1), extraordinary puppeteer, Laura Kibel (May 2) and silent comic, Avner the Eccentric (May 8).

Urban Arts Academy is back! From July 6 to 24, students will get a unique opportunity to participate in a comprehensive training scheme for the creative industries, with all courses led by practising professionals. Courses are for ages 15+ and there is no upper age limit.
trans returns during July and August with seminal international musicians and the best of the Belfast scene. Details of an amazing gig line up at venues across the city will be announced soon.

An Evening with Ricky `The Hitman` Hatton (July 7) is a fascinating celebration of the life and career of one of the greatest British fighters.

Michael Connelly - the international best selling author of the Harry Bosch thriller series - gives a book reading on May 15. Belfast's Niall Stanage presents Hope And Reality: Barack Obama`s First 100 Days as part of the Northern Bank Lecture Series on April 28. Stanage had an unparalleled level of access to Obama's key advisors and oldest friends during his quest for the White House.

The Shaolin Warriors (June 22) is a breathtaking theatrical experience featuring the agility, strength and skill of the Kung Fu masters.
The Wiggles (July 5) is a 'must see' treat for children.

Bruiser Theatre Company returns to the Waterfront, this time with Oh, What A Lovely War! on April 26. This moving and funny satirical musical about the First World War represents one of the great landmarks of post-war British theatre.

Looking for something a little different? Penguin People present Silver Screen Burlesque - a night of frolics, fun and film - on June6.
