BELFAST'S finest exports, the Panama Kings, released their new single 'Golden Recruit' this week.
Formed in 2007, Panama Kings were crowned JD Unsigned band 2008 and not being a band to rest on their laurels or accept that prizes might automatically mean progress, they immediately set about consolidating their reputation, releasing the critically acclaimed debut EP 'Young Blood' in the summer of 2008, winning new fans in the press and being played on radio by Zane Lowe, Radio Ulster's Across The Line, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson.

In a recent city guide for new students, NME identified them as a Belfast buzz band, a storming set at In The City 2008 in Manchester saw them cementing their reputation as the band to watch and even they couldn't have predicted that enabling their song 'Children', a live favourite only available for streaming on MySpace, would result in it being voted by the readers of AU Alternative Ulster Magazine as the third best song to come out of Northern Ireland in the last five years, with 'Young Blood' also appearing in the Top 15.

Drawing comparisons with indie luminaries such as Modest Mouse, Pixies, and the Walkmen, Panama Kings employ razor-sharp Gang Of Four guitars over dance-rock rhythms, frenetic keyboards and just enough Sonic Youth noise to stay this side of melodic, with Niall Kennedy's Superchunk/ Flaming Lips-esque vocal style perhaps being the bands strongest suit.

'Golden Recruit' is available to purchase as Digital Download or 10" inch limited edition vinyl from May 11, online on itunes and most major download sites or via the band's myspace site.

The band will also be embarking on a UK and Irish Tour to promote the release, with a single launch in The Limelight, Belfast, on May 27.

Regular updates can be found on the band's myspace www.myspace.com/panamakings
