BELFAST'S newest hotel may have only been open a matter of months but it has quickly cottoned on to the city's thriving music culture and has come up with a fantastic package for gig-goers flocking to see their favourite bands.
Just as all the big celebs have their backstage 'rider' of must-haves for when they perform (such as luxury candles á la J-Lo) now guests at The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast can enjoy their very own rider as part of a new package created especially for gig-goers.

The gig-goers package includes a range of pick-me-up items to help guests recover from the night before.

In addition, guests can enjoy a three-course pre-gig dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, Menu by Kevin Thornton, which is overseen by the Michelin-starred chef, one night’s accommodation in an executive room and a hearty breakfast the following morning.

So why book into a hotel when it's only 30 minutes up the road I hear you ask? Well, when you add up the cost of arranging a night out in Belfast and your taxis there and back, a stay at the Fitzwilliam Hotel isn't that much more - I know I'd rather put the money towards a night of five-star luxury!

Handily located just a five minute walk from Great Victoria Street train station, you can leave the car at home, hop on a train, sit back and relax and let the fun begin.

With my best mate in tow, and a girls' night out ahead of us, we checked in and felt like we were stepping into another world.

The 130-bedroom hotel boasts an elegant lobby area where you can sit back and watch the world go by, or cosy up beside the fire and read one of the many books from the hotel's library.

Designed by London-based Christopher Ash from Project Orange, the Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast reflects the “baronial modern” style of the renowned Fitzwilliam Hotel Dublin.

The height of chic interiors, walnut walkways combine with mood lighting and a clever use of mirrors to create a feeling of real opulence as you make your way to your room.

And the elegant design continues in the rooms with accents of lime or mustard complementing the chocolate browns of the carpet and the dark wood panelling of the fictures.

The concept is altogether very urban chic with the modern designs contrasting with the finishing touches of a retro phone and art decco lighting.

Even the executive rooms, the most basic of the hotel's packages, are a cut above any hotel I've stayed in, with complementary H2O toiletries, flatscreen TV and music system, internet access, and a fluffy Fitzwilliam bathrobe and slippers to snuggle up in.

While we stayed in one of the superior rooms, featuring floor to ceiling feature windows, and even more room to relax, little things like freshly baked cookies left for our arrival were stand out touches.

The hotel also boasts deluxe rooms, six studio suites on their own exclusive floor, and a first for Belfast, a two bedroom penthouse suite, at the top of the hotel - this is as good as it gets with your own private butler and a limo at your beck and call.

A visit to the hotel would not be complete without experiencing Menu by Kevin Thornton, the hotel's restaurant overseen by the Michelin-starred chef.
