New jobs created by DIY supplier
The new Screwfix outlet, which was officially opened last week, is located at Unit 4, Longwood Road, beside the Abbeycentre.
Three additional stores have also launched in Northern Ireland this month - in Belfast, Bangor and Ballymena - bringing the retailer’s network up to more than 335 stores across the UK.

Hide AdThe Longwood Road store opened to the public last month, but the official opening, which was attended by Screwfix CEO Andrew Livingston, was held on Thursday, February 13.
Screwfix has an established reputation as the UK’s largest direct and online supplier of trade tools. The new store in Newtownabbey will bring the brand’s expertise and functional product range to local tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts, stocking thousands of tools, accessories and hardware products under one roof.
Store manager, Mark Henderson, commented: “We are excited to be launching our first store in Newtownabbey; creating 12 jobs locally and giving tradesmen and DIYers better access to all the essential tools and equipment they need so they are fully prepared for any job.
“At Screwfix we pride ourselves on the speed, reliability and convenience of our service and are looking forward to welcoming our new customers from Newtownabbey.”
